The short version
Nijo is a toy that talks with your child. To do that, it has to listen to them. Here is the honest summary:

1. Who we are
Neuro Sapiens Private Limited, a company incorporated in India, is the Data Fiduciary (under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023) for the data described here.

2. Whose data this is about
- You - the parent or guardian who holds the account.
- Your child - who talks to the Device. Your child has no account and never signs in.
We process a child's data only on your consent, which you give when you create a child profile and pair a Device. See Section 8.
3. What we collect
3.1 From you (the parent)

We do not collect your phone number. Card details are handled by our payment processor - we never see or store them.

We do not collect your child's date of birth, gender, photograph, contact details, address, or school.
3.3 From conversations

3.4 About the toy itself
We record which toy is paired to your account and when it was last online, so we know it is yours and can tell you if it stops working.
3.5 What we deliberately do not collect
- Your location. We ask for location permission only to show you the Wi-Fi networks near you while you set the toy up. We never collect, store, or share where you are.
- Your home Wi-Fi password. It goes straight from your phone to the toy. It never reaches our servers.
- Anything for analytics or advertising. The App carries no tracking tools, no ad tools, and no crash-reporting tools at all.
4. Why we process it, and our legal basis
Under the DPDP Act, our basis is your consent, given when you create an account, create a child profile, and pair a Device. We process data to:
- Run the conversation - turn your child's speech into text, generate a reply, speak it back.
- Personalise it - use Nijo's memory so it recognises your child and follows up on past conversations.
- Keep your child safe - automatically scan conversations for concerning topics and alert you.
- Run your account and subscription.
- Keep the Service secure and working - debugging, abuse prevention, error logs.
- Improve Nijo - only as described in Section 6.
We never use your child's data for advertising, ad profiling, or behavioural targeting, and we never sell it. Under the DPDP Act, targeted advertising directed at children and behavioural tracking of children are prohibited, and we do not do them.
5. How long we keep things

Memory is the exception, so Nijo keeps knowing your child. You can delete it whenever you want - see Section 7.
6. Improving Nijo
We may use de-identified transcripts - with names and identifying details removed - to measure and improve Nijo's safety, accuracy, and speech recognition.
During the beta, we may also listen to the stored voice recordings described in Section 3.3, to work out why the toy misheard or answered badly. A voice recording cannot be de-identified - it is your child's voice - so we are explicit about it here rather than calling it anonymous.
- We do not use your child's data to train third-party AI models. Our AI providers are contractually bound not to train on data we send them.
- You can opt out of your family's data being used for improvement at any time, without losing any feature - just email us. Opting out also stops us storing voice recordings.
- Recordings are never listened to as a matter of routine. Only the staff who need access have it, only to look into a specific safety report or fault, or where the law requires - and every access is logged.
- This is a beta measure. When the beta ends we will stop storing voice audio, delete the recordings we hold, and update this policy - telling you before it changes, as Section 13 requires.
7. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you have the right to access, correct, and erase your and your child's data, to withdraw consent, and to complain.
In the App you can, at any time:
- Turn off conversation saving - future conversations are not stored at all, including the beta voice recordings described in Section 3.3.
- Delete transcripts - wipes stored conversation text and the stored voice audio immediately, without waiting for the 90 days to run out.
- Delete your account - removes your profile, your children's profiles, their transcripts, and their memory, subject to the legal-retention exception in Section 5.
For anything else, email customer@nijostudio.com and we will do it within one week:
- Delete Nijo's memory - wipes everything Nijo has learned about your child. Nijo will no longer recognise them or refer back to earlier conversations. This cannot be undone.
- Delete a child profile.
- Get a copy of your data.
8. Children - the specifics
- Nijo is designed for children, and a parent must set it up. A child cannot create an account, cannot subscribe, and cannot use the App.
- We rely on your verifiable consent as parent or guardian to process your child's data. You give it during setup, after being shown what is collected.
- We do not knowingly process a child's data without a parent's consent. If we learn a Device was set up by someone who is not the child's parent or guardian, we will suspend it and delete the data.
- No advertising, no ad profiling, no behavioural tracking of children. Not now, not later.
- The alerts feature exists so a parent can supervise their own child. It is not used for any other purpose, and its output goes only to you.
9. Who we share data with
We share data only with service providers who help us run Nijo, and only as far as they need it, to:
- host our servers, database, and storage;
- transport the live voice conversation between the toy and our AI;
- convert your child's speech to text, and Nijo's replies back into speech;
- generate Nijo's replies;
- send notifications to your phone;
- take payment, when you subscribe.
Each of them is bound by contract to protect the data, to use it only for us, and not to train their own models on it.
We also disclose data if the law compels us - a valid court order, or where disclosure is necessary to prevent serious harm to a child. If that happens we will tell you, unless we are legally forbidden from doing so.
If we are acquired or merge, your data may transfer to the acquirer, who will remain bound by this policy. We will notify you first, and you may delete your data before the transfer.
We do not sell personal data. There is no circumstance under which we will.
10. Where data lives
Your data is stored in India.
To let Nijo talk, some of it is handled by the providers described in Section 9, and some of them are outside India. They only ever process it for us - never for their own purposes - and only as much as is needed to generate a reply.
11. Security
- Everything sent between the App, the toy, and our servers is encrypted.
- Access to real user data is restricted to staff who need it, and is logged.
If a breach affects your data, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India, as the DPDP Act requires.
12. Cookies and website tracking
This section is about cookies - small files a website stores in your browser. They matter
only on our website (nijostudio.com); the two places your child's data actually lives are
the toy and the App, and neither uses them.
- The App and the toy use no cookies, and no tracking, ad, or crash-reporting tools. Nothing about your child is tracked this way. (This is the same commitment as Section 3.5.)
- Our website uses only the cookies it needs to work - to keep you signed in, remember what is in your cart, and remember your preferences. Without these the site cannot function.
- We use no analytics on our website. No Google Analytics, no tracking scripts, no visitor profiling. If we ever add basic, aggregated analytics to understand which pages are viewed, we will name the tool here first.
- We do not use advertising cookies, we do not track you across other websites, and we do not build ad profiles.
You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the website from working, but it has no effect on the App or the toy.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. For material changes - especially any change to what we collect from your child, or how long we keep it - we will notify you in the App and by email at least 15 days before the change takes effect, and we will ask for your consent again rather than assume it.

None of these providers is permitted to use your or your child's data for their own purposes, or to train their models on it.
